1st rule to be a true Hakka

Know your Hakka delicacies well:

All Hakka dudes and dudettes should not miss our own simmered and stir-fried Hakka dishes. Yummy! Btw, there are other delightful Hakka delicacies such as ground tea, vegetable dumplings, sweet glutinous rice cakes with peanut powder, Hakka noodles and preserved vegetable.

Apparently by doing a simple search in Googles brought me to this famous Hakka restaurant in Singapore! Hey, famous as in winning numerous awards and reccomendations. Dun pray pray~

Well, there are lots of taiwanese which are Hakka (although its a minority group among Taiwan's four major ethnic groups) and they do celebrate traditional festivals such as the Hakka traditional arts festival. Excerpts from an article in Taipei Times - "The first thing about being a Hakka is being able to sing mountain songs". Isn't it cool? Lots of more interesting stuff that WE, the Malaysian Hakka had no idea about it. Read more

ps: Where are the Hakka restaurant in Msia? Not using the WWW yet?

Fab 4, For Now

There are only the four of us now in the member list.

You, my toothy, 15 years old teeny-bopper of a cousin. And the only girl at the moment.

You, the Man U loving (cheh!), 17 years old brother of the above mentioned teeny-bopper.

You, my younger bro for the past 25 years and my buddy for the past 23. ( You were not quite my buddy the first two years because you keep getting all the milk first. Until I found out that I can make you cry and nobody would know it was me.... hehe).

I got to poll you guys. Should we use our real names here? Or should we just stick to nicknames. Haha.

It's been raining for the past whole week. At least here in Singapore. How is it going over there in KL?

Tzi Ga Ngin

That's Hakka for own people.

Essentially, it means family. And this is what this space is about. Family.

Our family.

A place to keep in touch and to update each other on the latest news, weddings, babies, cars, healthcare products, who is baking a cheesecake, or who is showcasing the boyfriend this Chinese New Year.

Essentially, it means we want to know what's cooking. In our own backyard.

And, of course, in other peoples backyard as well. Since as a family we share everything, including gossips.

And going by that grain, for those who are good in certain things, advice will surely be solicited. No doubt about that. Like where's the best chee cheong fun in Teluk Intan. Or how to skip the traffic at the Summit junction. Or why does the baby keep crying.

And whether studying in Singapore is a good choice ( for the record, the answer is no, unless you want to spend the rest of your uni days NOT partying away).

Aiks. I digressed.

But then again, it's all that and more.

So, people, write. Your tzi ga ngin wants to know.
